Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani stressed the importance of the unity of the Syrian territories for Iraq, and the interdependence of Iraqi national security with the security of Syria.
Al-Sudani indicated, during his meeting with the Syrian Foreign Minister, Faisal Al-Miqdad, the full readiness to help the Syrian people overcome their suffering and crises.
A statement by the Prime Minister’s Media Office said that the meeting witnessed discussions on various aspects of bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways of developing them.
The statement explained that the Syrian minister conveyed to Al-Sudani the greetings of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, and he also conveyed his invitation to Al-Sudani to visit Damascus in order to discuss more prospects for bilateral cooperation and coordinate joint action towards consolidating security and stability in the region.
For his part, Al-Miqdad expressed his country’s support for Iraq’s steps, its pivotal role in the region, and its efforts to consolidate the relationship between the Arab brothers and the countries of the region, stressing the desire for joint action to face common challenges, exchanging information regarding combating drugs and combating terrorism, and taking care of the refugee file.
He also expressed his country’s appreciation for Iraq’s support for Syria in facing crises, and for hosting a large number of Syrian citizens.
