Pezeshkian formally assumes duties as Iranian Pres.


The newly elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian officially assumed his duties on Sunday for his first four-year presidential term after winning the last presidential elections held on July fifth.

The inauguration ceremony was held by the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, and in the presence of senior political and military officials and foreign ambassadors.

In a speech delivered during the ceremony, Pezeshkian said that his government is determined to fulfill the aspirations and hopes of the Iranian people, achieve development at all levels and serve the citizens.

The Iranian President called on everyone to seek national unity and solidarity, reject division and internal differences, and abide by the law.

Article 110 of the Iranian Constitution stipulates that the Iranian Supreme Leader have the authority to sign the decree appointing the President of the Republic immediately after his election by the citizens, before the President takes the constitutional oath in Parliament.

an is scheduled to take the constitutional oath on Tuesday, at the parliament, in the presence of the heads of the legislative and judicial authorities and a number of leaders and heads of participating foreign delegations.
