Petra Strategizes to Elevate Media Services for Partners

The Jordan News Agency (Petra) convened a strategic meeting with its partners, including representatives from media, public relations departments across various ministries, official institutions, universities, and private sector companies. The assembly’s objective was to evaluate and strategize Petra’s role in delivering comprehensive news coverage, highlighting the activities, accomplishments, and significant efforts of diverse institutions in national development. The meeting also explored opportunities to present this information through Petra’s daily bulletin and social media platforms. Petra’s Director General, Fayrouz Mobaideen, emphasized the agency’s commitment to providing an integrated, objective, and professional media service that adheres to top-tier journalistic standards. This approach aligns with Petra’s editorial policy, and the broader national objectives and orientations. Mobaideen acknowledged Petra’s dedication to maintaining sustainable communication with its public and private sector partners, providing accurate, credible, and objective media products, and enhancing the quality of media communication across national institutions. The meeting included a presentation of Petra’s ongoing initiatives to enhance its media dissemination methods, including website development, special portals for photos, videos, and infographics, and active engagement on social networking platforms to facilitate accessibility for readers and service recipients. Petra’s partners lauded the agency’s contributions, appreciating its diversified news and media products and recognizing its essential role in serving Jordan’s national mission, principles, and unwavering stances on various Arab, Islamic, and international issues. The partners underscored the importance of the credibility and objectivity of Petra’s news, particularly amidst media competition that often prioritizes speed over accuracy. They also commended the professionalism of Petra’s press team, including correspondents and editors. An interactive dialogue ensued during the meeting, where partners’ insights and recommendations regarding Petra’s press coverage were considered to align with institutional aspirations and media objectives. The partners advocated for organizing workshops at Petra for media representatives across ministries and institutions to educate them on Petra’s editorial policy, news reporting, and photographic best practices. A subsequent agency-led study revealed an 81 percent general satisfaction rate with Petra’s news service, based on the analysis of a targeted questionnaire. The survey’s five core themes produced distinct satisfaction rates: strategic planning (88 percent), the agency’s new website (74 percent), overall agency services (80 percent), communication (81 percent), and institutional performance development (83 percent). These results underscore Petra’s progressive path toward evolving its media services and commitment to professional journalism, reflecting the needs and expectations of its partners.
