Parliamentary committee: events in Gaza are a violation of international norms, charters

Head of the Jordanian-Mexican Parliamentary Friendship Association MP Haitham Ziyadin stressed that every effort is being made to stop the brutal aggression against the people of Gaza, underscoring that the events taking place violate international norms and charters, which cannot be tolerated. During a meeting Thursday with the Mexican Ambassador to the Kingdom, Roberto Rodriguez, Ziyadin underlined that the Jordanian effort, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, will not stop to halt the war on the Gaza Strip and send in humanitarian and medical aid and food. He said that all components of the Jordanian people, the government and the Lower and Upper Houses of Parliament stand behind the Hashemite leadership in defending the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to live in peace and stability on their national soil. On relations between Jordan and Mexico, the MP pointed out the importance of developing ways of mutual cooperation between the two sides in all political, economic, tourism and parliamentary fields and removing all obstacles they face. In turn, Rodriguez said that Mexico and Jordan share the same principles and values, with regard to foreign policy, respect for peoples and the sovereignty of states, and not using violence to resolve issues, pointing to similar condemning views on what is happening in the Gaza Strip against defenseless individuals. He underlined his country’s continuous and firm position regarding the Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, noting that Jordan enjoys a global status and a prominent pivotal role in dealing with regional issues, which has made it a country that holds the appreciation and respect of all countries of the world.
