On behalf of UAE President, Shakhboot bin Nahyan attends inauguration of President of the Democratic Republic of CongoFM stresses need for Israel to comply with international will that calls for ending war (expanded)

KINSHASA: On behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, attended the inauguration ceremony of His Excellency Felix Tshisekedi as the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, after his re-election for a second term. The inauguration ceremony was held in the capital, Kinshasa.

Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, to President Tshisekedi, as well as their wishes for further development and prosperity for the government and people of the Congo. Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan also affirmed the wise leadership’s keenness to enhance bilateral relations and collaboration, to serve the mutual interests of both countries an
d their peoples.

For his part, President Tshisekedi conveyed his greetings to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and expressed his wishes for further growth and prosperity for the government and people of the UAE.

President Tshisekedi also commended the deep-rooted ties that bind the two nations and the UAE’s continuous endeavours to strengthen bilateral relations.

Sheikh Shakhboot’s participation at the inauguration ceremony reflects the UAE’s unwavering commitment to strengthening cooperation across all sectors with African partners, and is testament to the ongoing efforts towards stability and prosperity in the region.

Amman: Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met with Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib, whose country presides over the current EU rotating presidency, Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, and European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in Brussels on Sunday.

The meetings discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and efforts to forge a strong and effective international stance to end the war and the suffering and humanitarian catastrophe it is causing.

In the meetings, Safadi stressed the need for Israel to comply with international law and humanitarian law, as well as the international will calling for an end to the war.

He also called for protecting civilians and ensuring the delivery of adequate and sustainable humanitarian assistance to all parts of the Strip.

Safadi also underlined the need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and the Kingdom’s absolute rejection of the displacement of Palestinians within their homeland or abroad.

e reaffirmed that just and comprehensive peace on the basis of a two-state solution is the only way to protect the region from escalating conflict and to ensure security and peace for Palestinians, Israelis, and the region as a whole.

Safadi will also participate in a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday, along with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He will also meet with a number of his counterparts who are participating in the meeting.
