Oil Minister from Vienna: We have offered investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector, and we have taken great steps to stop imports from neighboring countries

Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, announced the launch of investment opportunities to develop the oil sector, in both parts of extraction and gas, indicating that the sixth round that was launched includes ten oil fields.

The Minister said from the Austrian capital, Vienna, according to a statement by his media office, that the available opportunities will provide 800 million cubic feet of gas to operate electric stations, in addition to increasing the oil production capacity of these fields, which will be invested.

He indicated that the sixth round, which was launched, includes invasive exploratory patches located on the western borders of Iraq, from the Saudi, Jordanian and Syrian borders to the governorates of Diwaniyah and Muthanna.

The Minister of Oil added that Iraq took great steps to invest gas through the Basra Gas Company, as this company was able to implement promising projects, the most important of which was the Basra NGL project, which includes an investment of 400 million cubic feet of gas, as the first phase was opened earlier with a capacity of 200 million cubic feet. The opening of the second phase, with the same energy, at the end of this year, where that gas will be used, in addition to ending many flaring operations.

The Minister indicated, according to the statement, that the Ministry has a promising project, which is the investment of gas from five oil fields, namely Majnoon, West Qurna 2, Al-Tobi, Al-Luhais and Artawi, as it will provide 600 million cubic feet of gas to be added to the operation of electrical stations and stopping the import of gas from neighboring countries.
