The US special envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, said on Thursday that efforts to rebuild Derna under two governments are not considered successful, unlike if there was one government.
Norland added in a press briefing that what happened in Derna increased the United States’ interest in the Libyan file, noting that his country provided $12 million to help Libya and wanted to make sure that the money would go to reconstruction.
The American special envoy to Libya confirmed that the World Bank and the United Nations Development Fund are ready to engage in the reconstruction mechanism.
