Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure launches 2nd ‘Research and Innovation Award’


The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has launched the second edition of the Research and Innovation Award to accelerate the development of innovative solutions to challenges in energy, water, infrastructure, transport, and housing.

The award is held under the patronage of Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.

The award covers five key areas, including energy solutions for better future, water security and sustainability, cities of the future, revolution on wheels, and housing era. It targets participation from the government sector, private sector, universities and R and D centres, startups, individual researchers and experts, and youth innovators.

The award organising committee has invited the targeted segments locally, regionally, and internationally to participate in the competition by visiting the Ministry’s website, moei.gov.ae.

The committee has set 30th September 2024 as the submission deadline. Winners will be announced and awarded in February 2025.

Hassan Al Mansoori, Under-Secretary for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs at MoEI, said, “The Research and Innovation Award aims to encourage researchers and innovators to design future government work models and develop trailblasing and tangible solutions to challenges in the targeted sectors, supporting MoEI’s objectives and the national strategies of the UAE.”

He added that the award will attract participation from researchers across the globe, underscoring the UAE’s position as a leading international hub for innovation and excellence.
