Minister of Planning: 73 hospitals will enter service at the end of next year

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Muhammad Ali Tamim confirmed that 73 hospitals will enter service at the end of next year.

The Ministry stated in a statement: “The Minister discussed with the UNICEF representative in Iraq, Sandra Atouf, and her accompanying delegation, the details of the joint cooperation program with the organization in the field of the social protection system, and supporting the Iraqi government’s efforts to improve the quality of education, health, and children’s rights.”

The Minister of Planning affirmed: “The Iraqi government has given the aspects of social protection in all its dimensions exceptional attention in light of the priorities of the government program,” calling on the United Nations organizations to “redraw cooperation strategies in accordance with these priorities.”

He pointed out: “The tripartite budget included good allocations to support water and sanitation projects, hospitals and social protection programs,” noting that “there are 73 hospitals that will enter service by the end of next year 2024, in addition to contracting to establish 15 other hospitals with different clinical capacities, and there are (24) projects.” The sewage system was lagging behind and its problems were addressed.”

He pointed out, “there are important procedures and steps towards achieving electrical interconnection with Jordan, Egypt and the Gulf states, and important projects in the field of providing drinking water.”

For her part, Atouf praised “the level of measures and steps taken by the Iraqi government in the field of supporting vulnerable groups and launching the children’s platform,” expressing “UNICEF’s readiness to continue its support for these efforts, and to work on preparing a long-term strategy for cooperation with Iraq in various fields.” related to the competence of the organization.”
