Minister of Gas and Oil, Mohamed Aoun, discussed with the Nigerian Energy Minister, Amb Gabriel Adud, and his accompanying delegation, headed by the Executive Director of the Petroleum Corporation, Rey Mille Kyari, how to enhance prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the oil sector and refining operations.
This came during their participation in the activities of the 8th global symposium organized by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Vienna for the period of July 5–6.
The two sides exchanged views on many areas of interest to the two countries and Africa. They also discussed the possibility of benefiting from Nigeria’s potential and its transformation towards oil refining and from the potential of service companies in the two brotherly countries.
The two parts also reviewed the possibility of transporting gas from Nigeria to Europe through Libyan territory, where it was agreed in principle on this issue that coordination would take place with the relevant and competent authorities in the two friendly countries to evaluate this huge project until a decision is reached based on sound scientific and economic bases and a long-term strategy.
This meeting comes within the framework of Libya’s commitment to advance the African role, and to employ human energies and natural resources on the continent to serve it and contribute to its renaissance.
