Military units began carrying out a large security operation in the Diyala River Basin.
A security source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency /NINA: ‘Joint military units began carrying out a three-pronged military incursion into the Diyala River basin, within the areas of Al-Ait orchards, southwest of Baquba, overlooking the banks of the river.’
He added: ‘The operation comes within a security strategy to eliminate ISIS cell additions and prevent terrorists from finding shelter in those orchards, and reopen agricultural roads, to create flexibility for the movement of military convoys among large areas of orchards.’
