The Military Intelligence Directorate announced today, Saturday, the arrest of 77 defendants in various legal cases and the seizure of a cache of explosive devices in Anbar, Basra, and Maysan governorates.
A statement by the Directorate stated, “with separate operations and persistent efforts, and based on accurate intelligence information by the Directorate of Naval Intelligence, the divisions of the Basra, Maysan, and Al-Jazeera Operations Command, and the Seventh Division of the Directorate of Military Intelligence, and in cooperation with the security forces occupying the ground, elaborate ambushes were set up in various areas of the same governorates.” It resulted in the arrest of 77 defendants in various legal cases in the districts of Al-Qaim, Al-Majjar Al-Kabir, Al-Kahla, Al-Haritha, Al-Shafi, Umm Qasr district, and the Abu Sakhir district,” stressing, “The defendants were handed over to the relevant authorities in accordance with the applicable context.”
The statement added, “Military intelligence detachments of the Jazeera Operations Command Intelligence Department seized a cache of explosive devices containing approximately (235) homemade explosive devices.”
He continued, “After searching and inspecting, a locally-made missile launch base and several missiles were found in the Al-Jazeera desert in Anbar Governorate,” indicating that “the engineering effort detachments were responsible for removing the materials and destroying them on site.”
