Maait: Sharm El Sheikh became “icon” of int’l conferences

Minister of Finance and Egypt’s governor to the Asian Investment Bank Mohamed Maait has described the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh as the icon of the international conferences after hosting many international gatherings such as the Climate change (COP27) conference last year.

A statement issued by the minister on Monday said Egypt dedicates its heavy weight in serving international meetings such as the annual meetings of the Asian bank.

In previous statements, Maeet said that Egypt will speak on behalf of African countries during the Asian bank annual meetings to be held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh on September 25-26.

He said Egypt’s address at the gathering will tackle economic challenges and the development needs of the African peoples including means to pump more investments in the continent’s infrastructure given the economic challenges the continent is facing.

For his part, South Sinai governor Khaled Foda said the city is ready to host the annual meetings of the Asian bank in a way reflecting Egypt’s heavy weight.
