Maait: Egypt keen to cement economic coop. with Hong Kong


Finance Minister Mohamed Maait had a meeting with John Lee, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, to review means to boost bilateral economic cooperation in different domains.

The meeting was held on Thursday on the sidelines of the minister’s participation in the 17th Asian Financial Forum (AFF) in Hong Kong, which is held under the theme ‘Multilateral Cooperation for a Shared Tomorrow’.

The Finance Ministry said in a statement that they also discussed means to promote promising investment opportunities in Egypt and incentives offered to lure the private sector under the state’s efforts to strengthen sustainable development.

The meeting was also attended by Hala el Saeed, Planning and Economic Development Minister, and a host of respective officials.

For his part, the chief executive voiced keenness to increase cooperation with Egypt in different fields.

The Asian Financial Forum is the region’s premier platform that brings together influential leaders from government, finance
, and business communities globally for ground-breaking discussions and exchange of insights on the global economy from an Asian perspective.

At the last edition of the AFF, over 2,500 in-person visitors and 4,500 virtual attendants from more than 70 countries and regions, along with over 120 exhibitors participated for thought leadership and discussions while witnessing the latest fintech advancements, emerging business strategies, and expanding their professional networks.
