Lebanese PM visiting Iraq: enhancing coordination in combat of terrorism


The visiting Lebanese prime minister has revealed that his government is seeking to boost cooperation with Iraq in combating terrorism and narcotics’ trade.

According to a statement issued by the Iraqi premiership on Sunday, Najib Mikati disclosed that the Beirut government is seeking to elevate the level of security cooperation and coordination with Iraq in the fields of combating terrorism and clamping down on drug dealers.

Mikati who was accorded a formal welcome was received by his Iraqi counterpart, Mohammad Al-Soudani, discussing ties and means of enhancing the economic partnership and the bilateral ties regarding imports of Iraqi oil to Lebanon.

Lebanon has been importing fuel to run its power stations according to a severe rationed power supply, amid some recurring financial issues hindering deliver of the fuel according to timetables.
