Lebanese Deputy PM: pressing humanitarian challenges still on worldwide

Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Saade Chami said Friday that pressing humanitarian needs are still existing across the world and humanitarian aid reflects core sympathy and solidarity.

The Lebanese official made the statement on the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day (WHD), which falls on August 19 of every year.

He highly commended all world humanitarian organizations and their staff for their efforts in the field as being a “beacon of hope” and showing that the road to a better world is still applicable.

On Lebanon, the official said that until the country’s economic recovery is achieved, and the country is put on the right track, it is incumbent upon everyone to rally behind humanitarian initiatives and cultivate a sense of unity.

On his part, Coordinator of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Lebanon Imran Riza spoke highly of the commitment of all humanitarian workers in Lebanon.

“Today, we are here to recognize and honor the dedication of humanitarian workers in Lebanon, particularly those, the most numerous, who are from the very communities they serve,” he said.

“Through their engagement, they show us that despite the challenges, a remarkable sense of shared humanity continues to prevail in Lebanon and that many resourcefully seek out solutions for the benefit of all,” he added
