Minister of Labor, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC), Dr. Khaled Bakkar, announced the employment rate for graduates of the Kingdom’s vocational training centers has reached 90%, which reflects their “success.”
During a field inspection tour to Amman’s vocational training institutes in Qweismeh area (Jordanian German Center of Excellence for Automotive Maintenance), and Marka Institute for Males, he noted the importance of increasing the number of trainees in these facilities, adding that the corporation is a “house of expertise for qualifying properly skilled and trained workers.”
The minister noted the strategy 2022-2025 includes the establishment of a group of excellence institutes that focus on the required professional and technical skills, stressing the importance of completing work in these institutes to enhance graduates’ employment opportunities.
Bakkar noted that a plan is being studied to establish “distinguished” training centers in the Kingdom’s n
orthern and southern regions.
For his part, the VTC Director General, Dr. Ahmed Gharaibeh, confirmed the corporation’s commitment to developing the vocational training system to meet the needs of the local and international labor market.
Gharaibeh said Qweismeh institute is now training 479 young men and women, and has joined the European Training Network (ETF).
Gharaibeh noted the Jordanian German Center of Excellence for Automotive Maintenance is currently implementing a project to train youth on electric and hybrid car technologies, in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), in addition to a project to provide yoth with the skills necessary to join the agricultural sector with the support of Ministry of Agriculture.
Meanwhile, he noted the Marka institute, which trains 462 beneficiaries, is currently organizing a training course in leather industries and new programs in 3D printing and virtual reality laboratories, with a focus on areas, such as hybrid vehicles, welding,
air conditioning and refrigeration.
