Kuwait will be taking part in a week-long ice hockey practice session in Uzbekistan that will bring together under-16 national teams from some 29 Asian countries, next Monday.
The gathering aims to further develop “winter sports” across the wider region, the Kuwait-based Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) said in a statement, citing that the event will be held in conjunction with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
A panel of experts from the IIHF will be closely monitoring the training program as part of the broader goal of providing athletes an opportunity to hone their skills, added the statement.
Kuwait will be among the participants in what the country’s winter sports federation chief Fheid Al-Ajmi described as an “extensive program,” it said.
