Kuwait MP: Israeli occupation escalation in Gaza can’t be ‘tolerated’

Hamdan Al-Azmi, member of the Kuwaiti National Assembly and the Arab Parliament, affirmed Friday that the “dangerous” escalation of the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip cannot be “tolerated”.

This came in a statement made by Al-Azmi to KUNA after his participation in the AP legislative and legal, and human rights affairs committee.

He stressed that this is not the issue of Palestine alone, but rather the issue of the Arab and Islamic countries.

He noted that the Israeli occupation started the war as the occupying power, affirming “the intervention of some major countries in the issue also requires the intervention of Arab and Islamic countries”, and the provision of all support to Palestinian people to liberate their land and get legitimate rights.

Al-Azmi wondered that what “people should expect from the siege and assault on about two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.” He added that “certainly, after many decades of occupation, this people will explode in the face of the occupier”.

In the context of the preparatory meetings for the Arab Parliament session Saturday (tomorrow), Al-Azmi said that the committee discussed a number of proposals related to its work plan, which is based on four main points.

The points include legislative activity, strengthening human rights mechanisms, and following up on the process of joint Arab action, in addition to parliamentary support mechanisms and external activity.
