The Koura District Agriculture Directorate has conducted a specialized course on ruminant nutrition and the preparation of feed mixtures, targeting sheep and goat breeders from the village of Tibneh.
This initiative is part of the field school plan within the “Investing in Small Ruminants and Lifting Rural Families Out of Poverty” project, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
A press release from the Koura Agriculture Directorate outlined the key components of the course, which included the preparation of feed mixtures for sheep and goats, the importance of balanced nutrition, and the specifications and essential components of concentrated feed mixtures, along with their preparation methods.
The course also delved into the nutritional requirements of animals based on age, gender, and weather conditions, the role of feed additives, and the critical minerals and vitamins that impact productivity for breeding, milk production, meat, or wool.
Furthermore, it addressed the symp
toms of nutrient deficiencies and appropriate treatments.
