Khazali Assures The Turkish FM Of Iraq’s Refusal To Infringe On Its Sovereignty And Use Its Lands For Aggression Against Neighboring Countries

The Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Sheikh Qais Khazali stressed, during his meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the need to increase water releases to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

A statement by Sheikh Khazali’s media office stated: “The Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq , Sheikh Qais Khazali, received in his office in Baghdad today, Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his accompanying delegation.”

It added, “Sheikh Khazali touched on the file of the Turkish military presence in Iraqi territory, and affirmed Iraq’s categorical refusal to use its lands as a launching pad for aggression against neighboring countries, and also rejects any infringement on its sovereignty, the safety of its people, and its territorial integrity.”

On another topic, Sheikh Khazali stressed the need for Turkey to increase the water releases to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, with the aim of confronting the wave of drought and desertification due to the severe water crisis that Iraq suffers from, which casts a shadow over the Iraqi people greatly, as it caused a high-level threat to agricultural and animals wealth in Iraq, and the citizen began to feel this clear threat.

The two sides also discussed the volume of economic exchange between Iraq and Turkey, its importance and ways to enhance it, as it achieves mutual benefit for the benefit of the Iraqi and Turkish peoples.

For his part, the Turkish Foreign Minister thanked Sheikh Khazali for what he spoke about during the meeting regarding topics of concern to the interests of the two neighboring countries, and also praised the positions issued by the Sheikh that contribute to preserving the security and sovereignty of Iraq, and strengthening state building and ways to advance it.
