Jordan’s, Hungary’s foreign ministers talk ties

Amman: Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto Monday held telephone talks on ties after Hungary became president of the EU for the next 6 months.

Safadi and Szijjarto discussed increasing cooperation between Jordan and the EU and preparations for the Jordan-EU Association Committee meeting slated for July 15 in Brussels.

Safadi congratulated Szijjarto for Hungary’s presidency of the EU.

Safadi and Szijjarto held talks in Amman on May 22, where Safadi discussed ending the Israeli war in Gaza.

The top diplomats discussed strengthening ties and increasing cooperation.

The two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Jordan’s Ministry of Youth and Hungary’s Ministry of Culture and Innovation for 2024-2028 and a MoU between Jordan’s Ministry of Environment and Hungary’s Ministry of Energy on cooperation in environmental protection.

They signed a memo between the Jordanian Diplomatic Institute at the Foreign Ministry and the Hungarian Diplomatic Academ
y and a MoU between Jordan’s Ministry of Higher Education and Hungary’s Foreign Ministry as part of the Hungarian Scholarship Programme for the years (2025-2027).

Safadi thanked Belgian Foreign Minister Haja Lahbib for her work during Belgium’s presidency of the EU in the past six months to strengthen the Union’s relationship with Jordan, try to stop the Israeli war on Gaza and ensure regional peace by implementing the two-state solution.
