Jordan welcomes UNESCO’s Executive Board resolution on Old City of Jerusalem, its walls

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the unanimous adoption of a resolution on the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls, by the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at its 220th session on Wednesday.

The Ministry’s Spokesperson, Sufyan Al-Qudah, said that the resolution adopted by the Executive Board today demanded that Israel, as the occupying power, cease all its illegal and unilateral measures aimed at changing the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites and consider them null and void.

Al-Qudah added that this resolution reaffirms all axes of the Jordanian position regarding the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls, including Islamic and Christian holy sites, and reaffirms the contents of previous resolutions issued by the Executive Board and the World Heritage Committee resolutions on Jerusalem.
