The Joint Operations Command announced the formation of a technical working team to investigate the fall of a Turkish drone in Kirkuk.

A statement by the Security Media Cell stated, “At 9:30 on Thursday, August 29, 2024, the Iraqi Air Defense detected a drone within the Kirkuk Operations Command sector. After following it and knowing its route and its arrival at the center of Kirkuk city, which contains government headquarters, important economic centers, and vital targets, all security agencies, as well as the International Coalition Forces, inquired about the ownership of this plane, and it turned out that it was an unknown plane. The statement added, “At 10:30, the plane was observed falling inside the city, and it turned out that it was a Turkish plane. A technical team was formed from forensic evidence, air defense, and drone crews to find out the reasons for its fall and the circumstances of the accident.”
