Japanese Expert Highlights Jordan’s Role as Beacon of Stability in Middle East


Satoshi Ikeuchi, a Middle East affairs expert at the Advanced Science and Technology Research Center at the University of Tokyo, has highlighted Jordan as a key gateway to the Middle East and a model of stability and security in a turbulent region.

In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Ikeuchi emphasized Jordan’s strategic importance due to its location in a region marked by ongoing conflicts.

He pointed to Japan’s ongoing support for Jordan, particularly through development aid provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Ikeuchi also noted the strong cooperation between Jordan and Japan, especially on mutual interests such as the Palestinian cause, and the deep historical ties between the two nations, reflected in the special relationship between Jordan’s royal family and Japan’s imperial family.

He underscored that ensuring stability in the Middle East is a strategic priority for Japan. Ikeuchi called for increased efforts to achieve peace in the region and urged the e
xploration of new frameworks and mechanisms for the peace process, considering current developments.

Ikeuchi also highlighted Japan’s commitment to playing a significant role on the international stage, seeking to bridge gaps between nations and coordinate efforts for shared interests.
