Italy looking to become hydrogen hub

Italy is aiming to produce hydrogen but, “above all” to become a hub for its transfer from North Africa to Europe, Environment Minister Gilberto Fratin told an international energy conference.

‘We are working to become not only producers, but, above all a point of reference for the transfer of hydrogen from North Africa to Europe,” said Fratin, who addressed the Venice Hydrogen Forum 2024: The Mediterranean Forum on Hydrogen at the weekend.

According to the Adnkronos news agency, the Forum was organised by the Venice Capital of the World Sustainability Foundation (VSF) and the Green Hydrogen Organisation.
