Italy and the United Nations Development Program announce their support for the Man-made River System with a financial contribution of 2 million euros.

The Italian Embassy in Libya and the United Nations Development Program announced their support for the Man-Made River Authority in Libya in restoring the Ajdabiya reservoir, with a financial contribution of 2 million euros.

This came in a tweet published by the embassy on its Twitter account, following the explosion that occurred at dawn today in the man-made river water line linking Ajdabiya and Benghazi, as a result of a theft of valves, which led to material losses in homes and the flooding of many streets in the city of Ajdabiya.

The embassy said in its tweet, “The Italian embassy in Libya was deeply affected by the images coming from Ajdabiya after the accident related to the Man-made River Project Authority pipeline. We will support, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, the Man-made River Authority to restore the Ajdabiya reservoir with a financial contribution of 2 million euros.”
