The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed today, Wednesday, the United Nations resolution on encouraging tolerance among religions and confronting hate speech.
In a statement, the Ministry expressed its welcome to “the decision of the United Nations General Assembly to encourage dialogue and tolerance among religions and cultures in the face of hate speech, which was voted on unanimously during the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly that was held on Tuesday, 25/7/2023.
It stressed, “the need to combat all forms of discrimination, xenophobia and hate speech.”
The Ministry called on all relevant actors, including states, to “increase their efforts to address this phenomenon in line with international human rights law, as insulting and contempt for any manifestations of beliefs and religions can lead to polarization in societies and cause great tensions that end Later, to express contempt, stir up anger and strife among people, and turn the difference in concepts into hatred and perhaps violence.”/ End
