Baghdad: Iraq welcomed the UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, ‘Iraq welcomes the UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the support it includes for the complete withdrawal of the Zionist occupation forces, and the safe return of displaced Palestinian citizens to their homes in the various areas of the Strip, as well as ensuring the safe arrival of humanitarian aid that fully meet the needs of the residents of the Strip and rejects any demographic change.’
According to the statement, the Ministry urged “the Palestinian parties to respond to the decision in preparation for the establishment of an independent, fully sovereign Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital.”
