Iranian Pres. appoints Mohammad Reza Aref as Vice President


Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has appointed Mohammad Reza Aref as the Vice President, according to a presidential decree issued on Sunday.

It was announced through a broadcast on Iranian state television.

Aref’s previously served as Vice President under former President Muhammad Khatami from 1997 till 2005, and he was the President of the University of Tehran from 1994 till 1997.

A formal inauguration ceremony of President Bzeshkian was held through the ratification of his presidency by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the presence of senior political and military officials and foreign ambassadors.

President Bazeshkian is set to take the constitutional oath of office on Tuesday in the presence of the heads of the legislative and judicial branches, along with leaders and delegates from various countries, which will further solidify his administration’s commitment to governance and international diplomacy.
