Iran condemns Beirut bombing, and warns against “expanding the scope of war” in the region


The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned, on Friday, the Israeli bombing of the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut this evening.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said in a press statement: “We strongly condemn the Israeli aggression on the southern suburb of Beirut, and express our absolute solidarity with the Lebanese people and government.”

He added, “There is no doubt that the occupation, contrary to what most countries and peoples of the world want, is seeking escalation and expanding the scope of war in the region and exposing the security of the region and the world to great danger.”

Kanaani considered the aggression on the suburb “a flagrant violation of international laws and Lebanon’s sovereignty and must be condemned by the international community.”

The Israeli army had bombed the southern suburb of Beirut this evening, Friday, targeting “leaders in the Lebanese Hezbollah.”

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 14 people were killed in the raid and dozens we
re injured.
