India to host World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly

NEW DELHI: India will host the World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly (WTSA-2024) in New Delhi from 14th to 24th October, the Indian Ministry of Communications here announced today.

Global leaders and experts in the field of telecommunication from 190 countries have confirmed attendance at the WTSA 2024, an official announcement said. The quadrennial event, which serves as the governing conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will be held in India for the first time in the 159-year history of the ITU.

‘WTSA-2024 will play a pivotal role in setting global telecommunication standards. India is honoured to host the latest WTSA as a significant milestone,’ the Indian Department of Telecommunications here said.

Coinciding with WTSA-2024 will be several side events, including the ITU Kaleidoscope Conference, ITU exhibitions, Network of Women and Artificial Intelligence for Good.

‘These will enrich the discourse and promote inclusivity in the sector,’ the Ministry said. Ahead of t
he Assembly, outreach sessions in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad will offer students opportunities to learn, directly engage with industry experts, and foster meaningful interactions and knowledge exchange.
