Important gains from Abu Dhabi Schools Champions camps in Manchester and Madrid

The summer training camps for the winning teams of the Abu Dhabi Schools Champions, which were held in the cities of Manchester and Madrid, concluded with important gains, which benefited 90 male and female students, including practical and theoretical lectures, friendly matches, and educational visits to the most prominent sports landmarks in the two cities.

The camps were the culmination of the efforts of the winning teams in the Abu Dhabi Schools Champions for the 2021-2022 season, which is organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in partnership with Emirates Schools Establishment, Department of Community Development, Department of Education and Knowledge, and Inspiratus.

The first camp was held in Manchester from 3-10 July, with the participation of 26 students from the winning teams in football competitions from Fatima Bint Mubarak School – Abdul Qader Al Jazayri School – Al Maharat Private School – GEMS American Academy. The camp included training sessions and visits for Old Trafford and the Etihad Stadium, while the second camp was held in Madrid, from 12-20 July, with the participation of 41 male and female students, for the winning teams from Abu Dhabi International School (basketball and volleyball teams), Institute of Applied Technology -Mohamed bin Zayed branch- (volleyball team). Summit international School (basketball), The Model school (basketball and athletics), and the camp also included visits to the Santiago Bernabeu and Wanda Metropolitano stadiums. From the schools of the winning teams in the Abu Dhabi Schools Champions, Al Taawun School (handball), Our Own English High School (basketball), Abu Dhabi Indian School – Muroor branch – (athletics), Horizon School (athletics), Al Ain Juniors School (athletics), Dar Al-Huda School (athletics), included visits to Santiago Bernabeu and Wanda Metropolitano stadiums.

For his part, H.E Talal Mustafa Al Hashemi Executive Director of Sports Developments Sector at Abu Dhabi Sports Council, stressed the importance of the gains of the students of the winning teams in Abu Dhabi Schools Champions during the training camps that were held in Manchester and Madrid, which came as the culmination of a long process of competitions during the last season 2021 – 2022.

Al-Hashemi said: “During the camps, we witnessed great enthusiasm among the students, and a strong determination to implement the camp program in its entirety, by participating in practical and theoretical lectures, and friendly matches, in addition to the educational visits to the most prominent sports landmarks in Manchester and Madrid, to go with the most prominent historical monuments in the two cities.

Al Hashemi concluded: “In the Abu Dhabi Schools Champions initiative, we seek to spread sports culture and make sports a major priority for community members, and actively contribute to raising sports awareness among school students. After the end of the long season, we had to reward the winning teams with training and educational camps in the most prestigious cities. In Europe, to nurture and develop talent from all aspects.

It is worth noting that the Abu Dhabi Schools Champions Season 2021-2022 concluded last June with great success, after the participation of 17,000 male and female students from 155 public and private schools from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
