Hamdan Bin Mohammed Names MBRU’s College of Nursing and Midwifery After Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum


Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has announced the renaming of the College of Nursing and Midwifery at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) as the Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery. This move honors H.H. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the wife of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.



According to Emirates News Agency, the renaming acknowledges Her Highness’s contributions to education, healthcare, and humanitarian values. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted how Sheikha Hind’s name is associated with noble endeavors and values. Her humanitarian initiatives have had significant outcomes, earning global recognition for their impact. He emphasized that this spirit of generosity is vital to the medical and nursing professions. The college aims to inspire Emiratis to pursue and excel in nursing, a crucial area of healthcare.



Sheikh Hamdan stated that the Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery aims to be a symbol of excellence and innovation. It is committed to developing skilled national professionals, supporting Dubai’s goal to be a leader in advanced healthcare services, offering top diagnostic, treatment, and care solutions aligned with global standards.



The renaming is part of the ‘Thank You Sheikha Hind’ campaign initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to honor Her Highness’s commitment to community development and family well-being.



The nursing profession, defined by compassion and generosity, is crucial in healthcare services. Through the college, MBRU seeks to enhance national healthcare capacity by developing future Emirati healthcare leaders.



This initiative emphasizes the college’s commitment to excellence and innovation in nursing education. It aims to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global medical education hub by empowering the healthcare sector with skilled local professionals.



The College of Nursing and Midwifery at MBRU was established in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast, UK, and offers master’s programs in Paediatric and Cardiovascular Nursing. Plans are underway to introduce Emergency Medicine and Critical Care programs. The UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation accredits these programs, and students can undergo clinical training in Northern Ireland hospitals, enhancing their skills to meet international standards and best practices.
