Foreign Minister discusses with his Turkmen counterpart strengthening bilateral relations

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met on Friday evening with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The two sides discussed, according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry, bilateral relations, with a focus on looking forward to a promising future and laying a solid foundation for these relations, especially in the areas of exchanging bilateral visits.

The two sides stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in the fields of energy and exchanging experiences, referring to the political consultations delegation that recently visited the capital, Ashgabat, where they discussed ways to establish diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.

The two sides also touched on strengthening the bonds of economic relations and trade exchange, especially in the field of gas.

At the end of the meeting, an invitation was extended
to the ministries concerned with the economic fields to visit Ashgabat, to begin a promising era of relations between the two countries.
