FM partakes in OIC’s Foreign Ministers meeting, 2nd, final add

The foreign minister condemned all attacks on Jerusalem and its holy sites, including the storming of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif a few days ago by two extremist ministers in the Israeli government. He underscored that the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its entire area of 144 dunums, is a pure place of worship for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Awqaf and holy Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department affiliated to the Jordanian Awqaf Ministry is the authority that has the exclusive jurisdiction to manage all the affairs of the Al-Haram Al-Sharif and regulate access to it. Safadi also stressed that Jordan, with direct follow-up from His Majesty King Abdullah, the historical Hashemite Custodian of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, is continuing to devote all the Kingdom’s capabilities to protecting the holy sites, its identity, and its existing historical and legal status quo. “Our common challenges are growing, and our joint action in confronting them is a necessity imposed by our common interests, our common security, and our collective duty to defend our causes, our true religion and its symbols, and the culture of peace and respect for the other that true Islam carries,” Safadi concluded. In the meeting, Safadi offered condolences to Pakistan, over victims of the cowardly terrorist attack that took place yesterday. “We absolutely condemn this act as a cowardly act of terrorism,” Safadi underlined. He stressed the Kingdom’s absolute solidarity with the people of Pakistan in countering terrorism.
