Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met on September 26, 2024, with the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Alexander Schallenberg, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the necessity of continuing efforts to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries in a manner that serves their common interests, expressing his aspiration to advance economic, investment and trade cooperation, as well as with regard to the development of renewable energy sources, especially solar and wind energy, as well as the production of green hydrogen.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs tackled Egypt’s efforts in combating illegal immigration, emphasizing the importance of European countries providing adequate support to Egypt to continue its efforts in this field, especially with the increasing pressures due to the mu
ltiple crises in the region. Moreover, Minister Abdelatty addressed the grave Israeli escalation in Lebanon, asserting the necessity of implementing Security Council Resolution 1701 in full, and warning against the expansion of the conflict in the region and drawing it into a regional war.
He also stressed the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and Gaza, affirming that Egypt will continue its international endeavors to mobilize support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, mainly, the establishment of the independent, sovereign, and territorially contiguous Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, in addition to granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations.
