FM: Egypt makes all possible efforts to stop Gaza war, prevents its spread to countries in region


Egypt’s Foreign and Emigration Affairs Minister Badr Abdel Aati said Egypt is making all possible efforts to stop the war in Gaza and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the countries in the region.

This came during a meeting on Saturday with Advisor to the French President for Middle East and North Africa Anne-Claire Legendre, said Spokesman for the Foreign and Emigration Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid.

Abdel Aati said Cairo clearly and fully supports the security and stability of Lebanon, preserving its sovereignty, and protecting its people in the face of the threats and dangers.

It also backs the ongoing international efforts exerted by France and the United States to reduce tension in southern Lebanon, he added.

They discussed developments related to the war on the Gaza Strip and efforts made at the international and regional levels to stop it and reach a ceasefire that allows the exchange of prisoners and detainees, and the entry of sustained humanitarian aid.

t with the Qatari mediation and the United States on this score, as well as Egypt’s efforts to deliver humanitarian aid and remove the obstacles placed by Israel in this regard.

The talks also took up efforts made by France to resolve the crisis, and give international momentum to the Palestinian issue.

The minister stressed the importance of any effort leading to establishing an independent Palestinian state and its international recognition.

Abdel Aati underlined Egypt’s vision for settling the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and bringing an end to the war in Gaza.

He stressed the need for the international community to undertake its responsibility to implement the two-state solution and establish the Palestinian state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, as per the terms of reference of international legitimacy.

Abdel Aati also expressed Egypt’s growing concern about the developments in Lebanon, and the current escalation, and its serious repercussions on Lebanon and the whole region.

He also reviewed
the developments in the Red Sea, and Egypt’s repeated warning of the danger of the war in Gaza, and the necessity of reaching an immediate and sustainable ceasefire, and preventing its grave repercussions on the security of countries in the region and international security and peace.

The French advisor lauded coordination between Egypt and France on many regional files, and Egypt’s key role to ensure regional security and stability.

She underlined the danger of the situation in southern Lebanon, and the escalation there, a matter that requires the full solidarity of all active parties to restore calm in southern Lebanon.
