At least eight people were killed and five others were injured on Sunday following a massive blast at an illegal firecracker factory in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
A heavy explosion inside an illegal firecracker factory in Duttapukur, West Bengal State University, left many causalities, the All India Radio reported Sunday.
The blast caused the roof of the building to be completely blown away with dead bodies of the victims landing on roads 50 to 100 meters away, sources added.
An investigation had been ordered into the incident and the police cordoned off the entire area
