The Civil Defense Directorate announced today, Friday, the extinguishing of a fire that broke out in tanks carrying black oil in a flannel factory south of Baghdad.

The Directorate said in a statement that its teams “extinguish a major fire that broke out inside three tanks with a capacity of (120) thousand liters of black oil inside a flannel factory in violation of safety instructions in the Nahrawan area south of Baghdad under the direct leadership of the Director General of Civil Defense, Major General Mohsen Kadhem Alak.”

It explained that the Civil Defense requested an investigation to be opened at the police station responsible for the geographical area and to summon a forensic expert to determine the causes of the initial outbreak of the fire and to hold accountable the negligent owners of the factory who were negligent in implementing the occupational safety procedures issued by the Civil Defense Directorate despite the Directorate’s previous warnings to provide safety procedures.
