Erdogan to the UN Security Council: What are you waiting for to prevent genocide in Gaza?

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that the United Nations has become in recent years unable to carry out its founding mission, and is turning over time into a functionless, dilapidated and inactive entity.

Erdogan wondered in his speech before the UN General Assembly in New York City today, Tuesday.. What is the UN Security Council waiting for to stop the genocide in Gaza? And what is it waiting to say enough to this injustice and brutality?

Erdogan also addressed international media institutions, saying: “Aren’t the journalists who were killed by Israel on live TV and whose offices were stormed your colleagues?”, explaining that “the Israeli administration ignores basic human rights, commits ethnic cleansing and clear genocide against the Palestinian people and occupies their lands.”

He also addressed the international community and said: “What are you waiting for to stop this murder network pursued by the Israeli government that is dragging the entire region into war for its political futu
re?”

The Turkish president called for the formation of a “humanity alliance” to stop Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his crime network similar to the alliance that was established against Hitler 70 years ago.

He stressed that the establishment of an independent, sovereign and geographically integrated Palestinian state with East Al-Quds as its capital can no longer be postponed, stressing that Israel is ignoring basic human rights, while the values of the United Nations and the West are dying in Gaza.

Erdogan said that Turkey stands with the people of Lebanon at a time when Israel is targeting Lebanon with airstrikes.

The Turkish president called on countries that have not recognized Palestine to recognize it as soon as possible and to stand on the right side of history in this critical period, noting that the Gaza Strip has become the largest cemetery for children and women in the world as a result of Israeli attacks.

The Turkish President pointed out his opposition to targeting Muslims be
cause of their beliefs, and the same applies to the issue of anti-Semitism, saying: ‘We await the appointment of a ‘Special Representative to Combat Islamophobia’ at the United Nations as soon as possible, in accordance with the draft resolution adopted on March 15, 2024.’
