Egypt’s Shaban reaches final of Olympic Modern Pentathlon


Egypt’s Mohanad Shaban has qualified for the modern pentathlon final at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

He placed ninth in the second semifinal group with 1,497 points to join his teammate Ahmed Elgendy, who qualified for the final by finishing first in the first semifinal group.

Elgendy set a new Olympic record by scoring 1,516 points in the semifinal, surpassing the 1,482 points scored by British competitor Joey Chong at the Tokyo Olympics.
