Egyptians to take Sunday off for Al Mawlid Al Nabawi

The Egyptian government designates Sunday September 15, corresponding to Rabi’ al-Awwal 12, 1446 AH, an official paid holiday on Al Mawlid Al Nabawi occasion.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, issued a decision that Sunday will be an official paid holiday for employees in ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, public business sector companies, and private sector companies; on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday.

Prophet Mohamed’s birthday, also known as Mawlid, is commemorated in Rabi’ al-awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar.

People in some Muslim countries including Egypt celebrate the occasion by buying different kinds of sweets and holding public gatherings.
