Egypt, Jordan, Iraq FMs convene in Cairo to enhance coop.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held Tuesday a meeting with his Jordanian and Iraqi peers Ayman Al-Safadi and Fuad Hussein respectively, within the framework of the tripartite collaboration mechanism between them.

The mechanism whose meeting was held on the sidelines of the Arab contact group gathering tasked with Syria is a key platform on the level of common efforts aiming at enhancing economic cooperation between the three countries, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The statement referred to the significance of this mechanism in conducting consultation and coordination between the three parties on several international and regional issues of common concern, with the aim of maintaining the unity of the Arabs, and security and stability of the region’s countries and peoples.

The tripartite meeting created a chance to follow up the projects of strategic cooperation and integration among the three countries, it noted.

In addition, the three foreign ministers agreed on holding a follow-up gathering on the sidelines of the high-level meetings of the UN General Assembly in New York next September.

The aim of this meeting is to follow up accurately the executive situation of the joint projects and provide required support and facilitations to carry out them on ground, according to the statement.
