Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Asadi called for supporting Iraq in helping the displaced affected by Gaza and Lebanon.

The Ministry stated in a statement: “The Minister met today with a delegation from the Red Cross headed by the head of the mission, Ikhtiyar Aslanov, and during the meeting, the work of the organization in Iraq and the issues of interest to the organization and the problems it addresses were discussed, especially the file of displaced persons affected by conflicts around the world.”

The Minister stressed the importance of supporting Iraq’s efforts to accommodate the displaced affected by Gaza and Lebanon and the possibility of providing possible assistance to them in light of the conflict and challenges facing the region, noting that the relationship with the organization extends back a long time and that there is continuous coordination in supporting the displaced and affected.

He pointed out that there is a desire to expand the scope of cooperation, especially since Iraq
recently received a number of Lebanese guests.

With regard to Iraqi workers, he explained that the recently approved retirement and social security law guarantees their retirement rights if they are insured, in addition to many other privileges, including optional insurance.
