Dubai’s Crisis and Disaster Directors convene for second forum

DUBAI: Dubai Police recently organised the second forum for crisis and disaster managers in the emirate to discuss challenges, improvement opportunities, and future readiness for dealing with emergencies.

The forum, held per the directives of Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, brought together crisis and disaster managers from various government departments across Dubai. It reviewed recommendations from the first forum and discussed efforts made by different departments to achieve readiness in dealing with crises and disasters.

Expert Brigadier Ahmad Borqaiba, Director of the Resilience Centre at Dubai Police, highlighted three main themes of the forum: challenges in responding to emergencies and crises, challenges in preparedness, and suggestions and recommendations for enhancing the emergency and crisis management system and recovery stages.

Borqaiba emphasised that the second forum follows the first meeting in December last year. It aimed to discuss global e
xperiences, the latest developments, and global challenges in crisis management, contributing to enhanced work continuity and constant readiness of all teams and concerned parties.

Borqaiba stated, ‘The second forum reflects our ongoing commitment to sustaining Dubai’s position as a resilient city that can flexibly handle unexpected events and adapt to various conditions and crises.’

He noted that the forum, bringing together all specialists under one roof, contributes to extensive brainstorming to develop ideas, initiatives, and projects that support government efforts in identifying, predicting, and effectively managing risks, ensuring the continuity of efforts and operations in Dubai.

Borqaiba concluded by emphasising that the UAE, and Dubai in particular, is always committed to proactive readiness for monitoring and handling potential crises and emergencies of all kinds, achieving the necessary preparedness to face challenges and risks effectively and with best practices.
