Dubai Sees Surge in Public Transport Usage on New Year’s Eve 2025

DUBAI: Over 2.5 million passengers utilized public transport and shared mobility services in Dubai during the New Year’s Eve 2025 celebrations, marking a significant increase from the previous year. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported a 9.3% rise in passengers, with a total of 2,502,474 people using the network compared to 2,288,631 last year.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Dubai Metro, encompassing both its Red and Green lines, was the most popular mode of transport, accommodating 1,133,251 riders. The Dubai Tram served 55,391 passengers, while public buses carried 465,779 individuals. Marine transport services also saw significant use, ferrying 80,066 commuters. E-hailing vehicles picked up 195,651 users, shared transport vehicles were utilized by 1,238 riders, and taxis transported 571,098 passengers during the festivities.

The RTA attributed the smooth and safe movement of passengers to a comprehensive plan developed in collaboration with relevant Dubai entities.
