Dubai Health Authority wins three prestigious awards for EJADA artificial intelligence system


DUBAI: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has secured three prestigious awards for its groundbreaking value-based healthcare initiative, “Ejada Ai,” reaffirming its commitment to achieving global healthcare excellence.

The system is entirely powered by artificial intelligence and aims to enhance preventive care for chronic diseases and their complications and improve healthcare and quality of life. Moreover, it will help the health sector move from a volume-based to a value-based care model.

The authority’s pioneering approach to value-based healthcare has garnered recognition through multiple accolades, including the UAE Innovates 2024 Award for the Most Innovative Disruptive Project. UAE Innovates is the largest national event celebrating innovation and innovators across the country.

Additionally, the authority achieved the Gold level in two Industry Eagles awards for Innovation and the Globee award for Radical Innovation, marking a significant milestone in enhancing excellence and innovation in healthcare
in alignment with its strategic vision.

The initiative aims to position Dubai as a benchmark for healthcare provision, delivering optimal treatment outcomes at minimal costs. The accolades reflect the authority’s dedication to pushing boundaries and fostering a culture of innovation in healthcare, driving towards its mission of setting new standards in healthcare delivery.

The authority’s triumph in receiving these distinguished awards underscores its adherence to stringent criteria related to healthcare quality, innovative solutions, utilisation of big data, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies.

Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, expressed the authority’s pride in its ambitious “Ejada” initiative. He stated that winning three prestigious awards was not the sole objective but a significant outcome that reflects the efforts dedicated to advancing value-based healthcare. The awards underscore the authority’s commitment and dedication to enhancing patient outc
omes, improving care quality, and ensuring the sustainability of the healthcare system for future generations.

Al Ketbi emphasised that the Dubai Health Authority continues its journey of modernisation and development in line with the ongoing transformations in the healthcare sector in Dubai. The authority remains resolute in its pursuit of achieving a world-class healthcare model that elevates Dubai’s status, solidifies its medical excellence, and distinguishes it in innovative healthcare practices.

Saleh Al Hashimi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Health Insurance Corporation at the DHA described Ejada as a pioneering healthcare value-based initiative of the Dubai Health Authority. The initiative aims to shift the focus from volume-based healthcare to value-based care, seeking to enhance health outcomes, improve patient experience, and reduce healthcare costs. This transformation is facilitated through collaboration among healthcare providers, leveraging data and technology, and implementing evidence-bas
ed medical practices.

Al Hashimi’s remarks highlight the innovative approach of this model in reshaping healthcare delivery, emphasising the importance of value-driven care, and promoting efficient and effective healthcare practices. The initiative underscores the authority’s commitment to advancing healthcare services and embracing modern solutions to elevate the quality of care and patient experience.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation introduced the UAE Innovates Award in February 2021 to honour individuals and innovative organisations. This initiative reflects the UAE government’s efforts to support and implement innovative ideas within the UAE, positioning the UAE among the world’s leading innovative nations.
