DEWA Innovates Smart Application for Enhanced Fault Management

DUBAI: The Research and Development Centre of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has unveiled a new smart application designed to streamline the process of fault management in field operations. This digital solution aims to automate the selection and dispatch of field crews, enhancing the effectiveness of alarm management and on-site troubleshooting.

According to Emirates News Agency, the application utilizes an Internet of Things (IoT) platform to improve fault response efficiency by reducing response times. The system automatically selects and dispatches the nearest available team to reported fault locations, ensuring prompt restoration of services. This approach is intended to minimize downtime and optimize operational workflow.

The solution also includes features for real-time report generation, offering tabular summaries that detail the records of dispatched crews, specific fault details, and steps taken for restoration. This allows for improved transparency and accountability in DEWA’s fault management processes.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, emphasized the significance of the RandD Centre’s role in fostering innovation. “DEWA’s RandD Centre is an incubator of innovation and a leading scientific platform, with prominent contributions that enrich the scientific and research community both locally and globally,” Al Tayer stated. He highlighted the provision of state-of-the-art technologies and world-class laboratories at the centre, which create an optimal environment for developing solutions pertinent to DEWA’s operational domains.
