Defense Minister meets envoys of China, Canada, Ukraine, Egypt

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah discussed Monday with a number of ambassadors various issues of joint interests, mainly bilateral relations and military cooperation.

The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Sheikh Ahmad discussed with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Zhang Jianwei the steadily developing strategic relations between the two countries and the efforts to upgrade it to new levels to serve common interests.

They also exchanged views on the most important issues of common concern.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil, Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Acting Minister of Finance Dr. Saad Al-Barrak, Minister of Public Works Dr. Amani Buqamaz, and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Ambassador Samih Johar Hayat.

Later, Minister of Defense also received a number of ambassadors of brotherly and friendly countries: Canadian Ambassador Aliya Mawani, Ambassador of the Republic of Ukraine Dr. Balanutsa Oleksandr, and Egypt’s Ambassador Osama Shaltout.

Sheikh Ahmad held cordial conversations with the envoys on many issues of common interest, particularly ways to expand military cooperation.

They also touched upon the latest developments and in the region and international arenas.
